sorting cards 400-440 of Topps 2009

I'm just getting started and I started with the 400-440 to get an idea of where I am with the set.

It's pretty interesting. I bought 2 jumbo boxes and so far I have found a couple of interesting things:

    1. I only received 4 checklist cards out of 2 jumbo boxes. And I just happened to get 2 number 2s and 2 numbers 3s. No 1 checklist or 4 checklist. Hey Topps for futre reference, I would rather even get a full set of checklists than some ridiculous cheerleader cards. Not sure your marketing department deserves a bonus this year based on that decision!

    2. I have every card #d 400-440 which is all rookies so not too bad. Once more I am only missing 2 cards for a second set and I don't have a single triple. I will have to say that is excellent. Usually with base level products like this there are way too many duplicates and missing cards. Don't know if this has to do with the decreased print runs for base Topps or what. For those of you who have not heard, Topps reduced the number of boxes that they shipped to dealers and sold out of all the Topps way before they even started shipping.

OK I'm sure no one is interested in a "live sort" but can someone please tell me if this is just a little weird?

My experience has been lots and lots of dupes and several "holes"

But now I've goen through 300-399 and I have every single card. I am only missing 1 card from having a second set 300-399 and have yet to get a triplicate of ANY card.

I'm very happy about this. It's frustrating for people putting sets together sometimes!

well i know UD isnt this good with their products, i bought a blaster of icons and got quite a few doubles and even a triple, IN A BLASTER. Didnt get a single rookie and only 1 even ok card and that was a steve young greats of the game123/199, at least in my donruss classics and topps magic i didnt get a single double let alone 3 of a single card and got at least 3 inserts/sp's with an equal or greater bv to the young.
All i know is, if it wasnt for SPA and Ultimate, i wouldnt go near UD products this year or ever again.

Well I have made my way through the 200s and I still have every single card once, am only missing 1 for a second set and I did find 3 triples. But still this is pretty hard to believe.

That brings the total for numbers 200-440 to one complete set and one missing only 4 cards!

I got 2 1's and 2 4's out of my two jumbo boxes.

Yeah Topps, just put all 4 in one box. Shouldn't have to chase checklists.

Can we trade? Or can you sell and send in PWE?

Well, I finished sorting and I'm amazed. I got one complete set. I have a second set that is only missing 7 cards - and no one of importance! And I have no more than 15-20 trips.

It was an easy set to put together and I guess I'll go ahead and get those last 7 to have two. Kudos to Topps - it was well coallated!

Glad it worked out for you. Only missing 7 cards for a second set seems really good.
