    Amazon/ToysR'Us random box

Does anyone have any experience with these? This is the product in question. They have another one that seems to be the same that has a good review, but it isn't listed in the category so I don't think they offer it anymore. The baseball package of the same type has several good reviews. There is another set with 40 random packs from Dave and Adam's Card World for $30 but the reviews scare me, and I haven't had any luck with the 2 random pack sets I bought on e-bay and don't want to get all early 90's packs of crap. I know some of you may be thinking "why not just buy a cheap box?", and that's a good question. The reason is I don't have a very large budget to work with right now and I don't have a favorite brand yet so I just want to try out as many as I can. Well any thoughts on the subject are welcome, as well as any suggestions to better random pack deals.

I bought random pack lots/boxes from card dealers before. Lots of junk - early 90's, stickers (not even cards), etc.

I also bought random pack boxes from retailers before (kind of like the one you're asking about). At Target (do you have Target in Ohio?), you can get 8 packs for $10. They are typically leftover/unsold packs from the previous year & not all junk. The thing to watch out for is you will be getting 'retail' packs where the insert/GU/auto ratios are lower. Not bad for about $1 per pack though. Nice way to kill some time.

those boxes are bs, don't buy stay away!!!! atleast for baseball they are........best card i got outta my box was an 03 ud mvp hideki matui rc which u can buy all day for $1........i say save up your money and buy a HOBBY BOX becuase RETAIL SUCKS!!!!!

people will tell you they got an amazing pull out of them......but they probably had to open about 50 of those $20 boxes to get it......some people open one box and get a great pull.....but it is very unlikely

hobby will cost more, but you definetly get alot better stuff!

The thing that you got to remember about retail is that some of us can afford it a lot easier the hobby and we also are closer to the retail then hobby.. I am witin 15 minutes of about 5 retail stores with cards compared to almost an hour of 2 different shops.. That really isnt worth it to go crazy on hobby with most packs now 10+ a pop.... I enjoy opening packs and will buy retail more often then hobby just to have the fun.

And I have sold more cards from retail then what ive paid for them as well.. Including a 450 dollar dual jersey auto of emmitt and aikman..

    my 2 cents

Same applies to me...the nearest card shop is in Pittsburgh, I think, unless Indiana is closer...Pittsburgh's at least 40 minutes away, but in any event, it would be a miracle for me to get to go out there. (I can't drive for another 6-7 months... )

I get some decent pulls out of the retail stuff, anyways. I used to get a bunch from Toys R Us, but they've reduced their selection, Target has a nice selection, but it's 15 minutes away, so I'm usually getting them from Kmart or Walmart. (Soon, it might be just WalMart because the KMart might be disapearing here soon)

I have gotten these out of packs at Giant Eagle
2001 UD Decade 70s Al Oliver bat (part of my PC)
01 Topps Stars Gold Albert Pujols RC (Traded that a long time ago, wish I would have kept it)
02 UD Honor Roll Sammy Sosa jsy w/stripe #/50 (gone)

Out fo the other stuff, I've gotten a couple good pulls. (Can't remember them...but who cares)

If you're going to get one of these, (this is just what I do) I observe what packs are in there. (Most boxes show all the packs) Ive found some really good packs in those sometimes.

Oh, yeah, and LakersMC, they're no longer 8 packs for $10...they've brought it back to 12 packs for $10.

I buy these kinds of boxes all the time at the stores mentioned above. I always get at least one card that has a BV equal to what I've paid. Best pull - Baron Davis 3-color patch about a year ago.

I bought ten of those from Toys R Us. The basketball ones. Some boxes I pulled two GU'ed from (including a nice Peja) from some other boxes I pulled nothing. It is retail so your chances for GU and autos are slim.

Yeah, but it's still fun to bust open the packs that you can't find at half the places you go to...:D
