Getting some autos on a football...any particular kind of football to use?

Hi guys, I'm planning on getting a few autographs on a football this weekend, and I was just wondering if there's any particular kind of football I should get for autographs. I definitely can't afford an official NFL football, way too expensive for me. I was thinking of just buying a cheap Wilson NFL football, you know, the kind that sell for around $15 at Dunham's or Sports Authority...are those ok to use for autos, or could they end up bleeding or damaging the autos in other ways? I'm more used to getting autos on baseballs, so I wanted to ask the football experts about getting footballs signed. Thanks!

If you can't get official ball...those you mentioned should be fine. Use a thick silver sharpie- they look great. Avoid white panel balls- all of mine have faded and bled over just a few years

Those would do fine. Use either Deco or Sharpie silver paint pens on it. I've got a couple of the cheaper Wilson NFL footballs signed by various players from the Vikings and it looks great, with the exception of the players I've got with a dying silver marker and a dying paint pen.
