Are there any out there? Are the little guys less important than the hi-end traders? No time to ignore the traders. Answers are what we all need weather, yes or no. We are card traders, not ceos at big corps, where the little guy gets ignored. Be considerate to all, realize there is someone bigger, and with a better collection than your own. Don't be offended.

It is about reputation...

If you're a new trader with a lower-end collection/tradelist, you'll likely get going among traders with similar stuff. Fewer people trade across high-end to low-end, and understandably so because the perceptions of value are different across them. If you have a "lesser" collection, of course it will be harder for you to trade because the focus of the hobby is trending toward mid-to-high-end. It isn't that the "little guy" is less important - it is just that these new people have less reputation and appeal when they first enter trading.

And even if a new trader has all this shiny high-end stuff, people are wary because of a mentality that says "this person is new and has all this great stuff, but no reputation." People might think like this since he would have appeal, as his collection is high-end, thus playing into the mindset of the hobby as a whole. It is a reasonable stance with all of the shady trading practices, especially among newer traders. So you can see why people are less accommodating of certain new traders.

Trading is trading - people use the same basic methods in hobbies as in business.

and when i sell i usually sell LOW prices!!! like even better than walmart deals!

I agree with the no trade is too small mentality but I also think that a person has to get established before I break out the higher priced stuff.I will trade low end with a new member to feel them out and test them so to speak.Once a member has earned my trust any card I have that is not pc will be offered to them,and yes a new member with high end trying to trade right away does scare me off.Take care Steve

Agree 100% - so many of these 0-10 Trader Ratings show up trying to sell Austin Jackson Blue Refractors... I think I'll wait. Take a little time to establish yourself here before you try selling anything. It's not that difficult to make 20 trades, and at that point people tend to be pretty trusting on here.

i think the worse way to get a bad reputation on here is to trade high book value on your cards and try to get low book value on the other traders cards.Another way is to say you know "nothing" about book value, and then just "happen" to pick the most expensive cards out in someones bucket. there are alot of great guys and girls here, alot. but also alot of people that play "stupid" and think some of us that have been collecting for 30-40 years, were born just last night. just my 2 cents worth. most of all have some fun trading here, its a great site with great, helpful people here. and always remember the golden rule of trading, never be *** to anyone because you never know when that one person is going to have that "one" card that you want. If you get a bad reputation, no one will want to trade with you or help you. Enjoy it here and have fun trading.

For me honestly, trading is fun.

To find a guy in Seattle who likes Seahawks cards is great because he probably doesn't like Falcons cards.

My only problem is those collecting and trading purely for profit, those people are easy to spot a million miles away. Who happens to be a fan of Adrian Peterson, Joe Flacco, and the entire 2009 rookie class? Obviously someone without team loyalty.

I just find it interesting that some people choose to ignore posts and private messages. You can't assume that just because someone has a low trader rating they will stiff you. We all had to start with that same zero.

I moved a pretty nice vintage hockey collection for under 30 trades so don't fill like there some kind of disrespect going on. Just trade as you would like to be traded with. You will get results and have fun.
