I think alot of what is bad about the WWE anymore is that is marketed towards kids and forgotten about the people who have supported them for years.

The kids are still what drives the industry.

I would agree with that to an extent. A lot of these kids who are driving the industry are turned on to wrestling by parents. As more teens/adults lose interest due to poor product, the number of kids exposed to it may dwindle.

I think that both the poorer product over recent years as well as "growing out" of wrestling are also why they are losing interest. But I do see your point about parents getting them interested in it, personally when I was really little it was my uncle. Then I kind of forgot about it until the "Attitude" Era when my friends next door were always talking about it and I liked it again. Grew out of it again in my later years of high school and then John Cena actually got me back into it. (I met him at a college party, he was neighbors with the kid down the hall) And now I'm back towards not watching as much anymore.

In summary, I think it has a lot to do with both age and product that drives the industry.
