Zherdev was there best player last.
The Heatley deal, Ottawa, would have been out of there minds to trade for Smid, A AHL Player, Penner a Flake, one good sesaon wonder, and Cogs who is still not the player the Oilers expected, come on, there have been other players who have said NO to TRADES, how about MATS SUNDIN, no trade clause, same deal, theres been players who were drafted that said they wouldn't play for the team that drafted them. This whole Heatley thing is a BIG JOKE, If Ottawa was smart they would keep him and trade him later at the trade deadline, when teams are looking to upgrade there teams, the guy is one of the rare 50 goal scorers in the NHL, this team with Heatly and maybe Kovalev could be something to watch this year, you can't compare Ryder with Heatley, a difference of 25-30 goals a season, this guy is a true star in the NHL.

I like Carols Idea...let him sweat it out till March....no loyalty in the game today is there...If I was Sather I would have signed him nd them used him in a trade for Heatley...But truthfully, I rahter the Rangers stick to the Youth movement and give some of their prospects a chance to thrive under the Torts system..we have some really great prospects..kinda sad they traded Kopikoksi though...and I still think they should have kept Gomez and traded Drury..Gomer feeding Gabby...Scott would have another 80+ asst season

Heatley has already (upset) everyone in Ottawa off....He is (upset) he doesnt get top minutes and top situations...then asks for a trade but delines the one that they did because its not on his "list"......If he starts the season in Ottawa, I say they play him on the 4th line and 5-6 minutes/game......
As for Zherdev.....How much was awarded?

Less, we forget, Spezza, Alfie and Heatley are the Sens best players, when you look at the rest of the team, not much there, alot of 2-4 line players with not alot of scoring from those lines, those 3 guys should be playing at least 22-25 minutes a game, not 15 minutes on some nights, say what you want about Heatley, he is still a player who might just get you 50 goals, I know one theng, Kovalev, won't, some nights he doesn't even show up.

It's OK, though, we're hoping he gets an 80+ assist season feeding Gionta and Cammalleri.

I second this! Why would someone with so much talent be moved around so much? Maybe he is a bad teammate or a problem in the locker room?
