Put it this way: There are sausagefests, there are mega-sausagefests, and then there's the National Sports Collectors Convention. You have a better chance of meeting your future wife in an all-male penitentiary during a Gay Pride parade.
haha to funny, espn did a good job
On the flip side: I liked the McAvoy Sports Card guys. Friendly, organized, possessed a killer collection and allowed me to look at their vintage basketball cards without spitting food on me or regarding me like I was a Crip walking into Bloods territory. They're based out of Nebraska.

Thanks for the link. Two comments.
1. In every photo gallery I've seen (ie. espn, scf, beckett, etc), the Nationals don't look very crowded at all. Looks like there's no one there.
2. Whoa. Simmons is pretty funny, but he talks a lot of smack about card dealers. A little rough, IMHO. I guess that's where people get these stereotypes.

I just think in these tough economic times it's hard to travel and spend money when people lose their jobs and don't have the funds anymore.

yeah I was noticing that too..from what I heard i thought its packed like hardly any room to walk..then I saw pictures and was like..what?

True enough.
I remember going to the National, and there wasn't enough room to walk in the aisle ... or I couldn't get near a table because of the crowds ... or one time I lost my dad (and found him an hour later) ... or Upper Deck running out of promos ...
Maybe one day, the crowds will pick up again.
