Hello
My name is Richard(Stormcrow). I have been collecting football and baseball cards since the age of 6, in 1976. By the time I was 14 I had a great many cards(for a kid) including a 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth, a 1950s Sandy Koufax, a 1950s Ted Williams, and a 1966 Willie Mays. Those cards(presents from my Dad) were all in mint condition except for the Babe Ruth which had quite a bit of wear.
By the time I was 16 I was purchasing tables at local(Cleveland area) conventions, and buying everything from singles, and sets to boxes and cases. Unfortunately I sold most of my collection when I went to college, and then had the rest of the cards stolen. At one time I had all the great cards of the 70s and 80s, including Joe Montana, Dan Marino, John Elway, and many, many other superstars rookie cards.
Just in the last three months have a gotten back into collecting. I am buying all baseball and football cards from 1965 thru 1989. I buy mostly graded singles. And in the last three months I have purchased well over a hundred graded singles(95% baseball and 5% football). I am looking for cards between 3.00 and 100.00 dollars. I also am looking to increase my football card percentage, though mainly focus on baseball.
I went to ,"The National Sports Collectors Convention" in my home town of Cleveland, OH this past weekend. It was a tremdous learning experience. The first thing I learned was the prices I was finding on EBAY were a heck of a lot cheaper than the prices at the convention.
I still have a lot to learn(and re-learn) about baseball and football cards. After 1987 it got a little confusing with all the new companies and sets. I prefer pre 1990 cards. I also want to learn about how graded cards affect prices and the hobby. I know many collectors feel like it is ruining the hobby to some degree. I do not feel this way, and I only purchase graded cards, on-line,....for cheap. I feel like this is a good time to buy with so many people having to sell their collections because of the economy. I am not wealthy by any means, but I have been fairly unaffected by the economic downturn.
Anyway, sorry for being so long winded. I hope I can learn from the people here and make some good connections. I am a little overwhelmed by all the different threads, and areas to post here at the forum. Thanks,
Stromcrow or Richard M.

Hello Richard and welcome to SCF! Always nice to see another vintage collector on the boards. Maybe I am getting old but some people consider anything 1990 and below as vintage - guess its the sign of the times. This is a great site and you can pick up some fantastic deals - I'm sure your PC will grow in no time.
If you haven't ready, please fill out all of your personal information in your profile. This address can only be viewed by staff and from the other trader once a deal has been agreed upon.
I would also recommend checking out this link:

Great resource for new members that should answer most of you questions. I'd be more than happy to answer any additional question you may have.
Again, welcome and best of luck to you!
