Here is a real fun suggestion for you. I used to do this alot and have gotten away from it. I like inserting an index cards as well, but not blank. Put the players name at the top and then as a one line question and leave the rest open for a possible answer! You would be shocked at how often I would get the question answered and the card signed. I have a huge stack of these types of items. The older guys are the best at this. Some of my questions would be: What was you greatest baseball moment? Who was the hitter you least liked to face? Who was the best fielder you had ever played against? What was your favorite baseball park? Who had the best fastball that you had ever seen? Who was the best hitter you played against? What do you remember about your first win in the Bigs? I will let you know that the answers to one of those short question cards can be funny and can be very cool. You are inserting the index anyways, so why not make a one of a kind collectible and learn a little more about the player you are mailing to?
I really like that Idea. Do they sign the card as well?

Great Idea. I am definantly gonna try that. Do you have a scan of any just to see?

Thats a good idea.
I personally though don't add any sort of protection. I'm not convinced an index card would offer much protection and worst case scenario, its two stamps and a cards down the drain. Toploaders, I would imagine, are just another hassle for the player, and several times, players (especially older ones) sign right on the plastic. I've had good luck so far (knock on wood) so hopefully that will be a one time thing for you as well.

I have had them sign the index as well as my cards in the past. It depends on the player as to if they did both. That is one of the reasons that I always started with their name printed on the top of the card, had they not signed I still knew who it was from. It also really made the successes seem more personal to me.
I am sorry for the gentleman who asked for a picture. Many of you have realized by now that I just am not computer savey enough to get the scan online after I get it into my computer. Maybe I will have one of my employees try again to explain it to me sometime when they come over. Best of luck to all on your requests.
