true rookie card?

Hello,
What Product is considered the true rookie card for football? Is there a set product each year? I have heard different opinions and would like some of yours.

well the easiest answer is, its the card thats part of the main set, not a insert or paralell, which for most sets is the regular base rookie, but for 08 spa for the top rookies it would be the jsy au /999 or /499, but it would be the rookies card that is in the sets main set checklist.

And just to clarify, there is no one product that is the true RC. Each product that is released will have the one base set card that is a true RC. If you want to narrow it down to a single product some would argue the base Topps RC is the general football set that has been present through most of the vintage and modern card ages. I think since the mid 90's SP Authentic has been one of the most popular brands in terms of value retention and desire.

I agree, and I'd consider Score as well b/c the brand has been around since 1989.

i complete the score rc set and topps rc set every year and buy a few of the rookie stars in chrome
