LOL ... I think it's awesome and true at the same time. I don't know about you but when I was in school, daily lunch was a slice of pizza and a soda from the vending machine. It was either that or nothing because the rest of the stuff they served probably wouldn't even be served to prisoners!

The whole issue is bringing the President's daughters into the discussion, which I don't have a problem with in this instance, I don't think it does them any harm or cast them in a negative light. In some cases I do, when it's a personal attack at them or something about them (if they were an alcoholic, lesbian/gay, criminal, handicapped, etc). For example, when everyone attacked Palin because her daughter got pregnant, something she has almost no control over whatsoever and that was used as a point as to why she is not fit for office, which has nothing to do with it. But this isn't an attack on the kids or something about the kids specifically. With the Palin situation, she was being attacked for something her child did, her child was the focus of the attack, and had nothing to do with office. With this, Obama is being attacked for his policies, not what his children did, the kids aren't the direct focus of the attack, and it very much has to do with his office.

If that makes any sense at all...kinda hard to explain what I mean.

BUT...my main problem with the ad: Why in God's name is an 8 year old a vegetarian/vegan? Very bothersome to me.

I too have no problem with the ad. During the campaign he made sure his children were in front of the cameras so I don't think this is out of bounds.

I do think the ad campaign is ridiculous though, schools should not have to provide a vegatarian alternative. Last time I checked it wasn't against the rules to bring your own lunch.

While I have no issues w/ the posters, in an article I read the President's children are usually off limits (an unwritten rule).

    From the article:

To Frank Luntz, a Republican political consultant, the White House's response to the posters is hardly shocking.

"The children of the president are always off-limits. Always. No exceptions," Luntz says. "No ifs, ands or buts. And while it may draw short-term attention to the issue, the White House will hate the organization for it. And I assure you they will be punished. You don't mess with the president's children. It's an unwritten rule."

I don't really agree with this. Schools cater to all race, religions and creeds. why should they not cater to a lifestyle choice as well. There is no reason a school couldn't offer some sort of vegetarian alternative even if it is just a salad of some sorts ... heck if they would have had salad when I was in school I probably would have chose that over the crap I ate.

I think they have a good point that needs to be addressed, the white house shouldn't try to avoid the issues
