The Official Lebron James Discussion Thread
With all the Lebron discussion threads that tend to be created, and how they tend to turn ugly fast, I have decided to create a lone thread for Lebron, and one for Kobe as well. Please use this thread to discuss anything random about Lebron James. Actual news stories may be posted in their own thread.

By posting in this thread, you agree to not bash, flame or personally insult, directly or indirectly, any other member. If you do, you will receive an infraction. So please, only logical, well-thought and constructive debating!

So let's get it started.
The Cavs continue to make moves in the offseason to build around Lebron, but they're still coming up short. When will comparisons of LBJ to Barkley, Malone, and Ewing start - Franchise players that couldn't get it done? I know it's still early in his career, but Nike's "witness" promotion has him ranked somewhere between MJ and Jesus. Pretty good company there.
And what if he doesn't win the title before Kobe retires? Will that tarnish his legacy?
Not bashing, just observing. These are things I think about when I'm trying to sleep at night but can't find the cool spot on the pillow.

I enjoy watching LeBron play the most of all players today, but it seems he's been overexposed lately more than ever thanks to some dumb moves (the Nike dunk controversy and the handshake issue) and telling people too much (Le"Bong" admission). If he wins the title this season with Shaq on board, it'll help some, but he'll then just hear for awhile what Kobe had to for years (can you win without Shaq?).
Goodness, I am so glad I am not famous.

Jordan didn't win a Championship until year 7....and we're approaching LeBron's year 7. When Jordan was 6 years into his career, were people talking about how he's never going to win a Championship?
I don't get why people say the "oh, LeBron will never win one since he hasn't yet" garbage (not you, just people in general who say that).
Last time I checked, LeBron still has AT LEAST 12-15 more years left in him of good, quality basketball. People should hold off on the "he'll never win one" stuff until at least 10-12 years into that players career. It's been 6 years, and during the first few, the Cavs were still one of the worst teams in the league. They've only been TRUE contenders for two years now (and no, the year they went to the Finals they weren't anything near contenders).Last edited by nadeau01_johnson48; 08-17-2009 at 06:09 PM.

Yes, the sports media did - but since we didn't have mass Internet fan discussion back in those days, it seems much less by comparison.
