    Question on Ordering Hobby Boxes

    Hey everyone!

I'm looking to order a few hundred dollars worth of hockey hobby boxes in the next couple of days and am looking for some input. The local card shops (Dayton, Ohio) don't offer much in this area, so I'll most likely order online.

First, I am curious as to how my money would best be invested. I am looking to pick up multiple boxes at this point, not just a single $350 purchase for something like The Cup. I am leaning towards a variety of something like SP Game Used, Trilogy, and perhaps SP Authentic or Ice.

Any suggestions regarding how good these products (and others) are this year regarding value (in hits and overall satisfaction) per box as well as any other feedback on 08-09 hockey hobby boxes.

In addition, I've been eyeing a couple of online retailers that seem to have pretty good prices, and am looking for input on whom to buy from as well. DA Card World has pretty good prices, and free shipping over a certain dollar amount, while DCS Cards has better prices on some products but doesn't offer free shipping (thinking of splitting my order for cost effectiveness and getting boxes from DCS only if after shipping it will be cheaper than DA).

Thanks in advance for any and all advice you can give!!

for the price in 08-09 stuff the best products are sp authentic for sure. black diamond is cheap and you got great things in. no not purchase some ice its too rough. ud series 1 is a classic with a bunch of nice young guns this year. if you like low stuff opc update is very pleasant to open with nice rc, retro, metal and gols parallel..06-07 itg heroes and prospects is nice for the cheap price. have fun!

Can never go wrong with 08-09 Upper Deck Series 1 for what it costs! 6 young guns and 2 jersey cards on average per box along with the chance of case hits like game patches /15, Signature Sensations and more. The reason for Series 1 over Series 2 is mainly because of the rookie line up.

SPA is a fun break with 3 autos per box and a possible auto'd patch. I've also heard Artifacts can be a fun break, but maybe some others can tell you their experiences this year as I haven't opened any.

Trilogy only has 9 packs and you're guaranteed a hit/pack (3 RCs/3 auto/ 3 GU) with minimal base to worry about when your done -- Not bad for a box in the $125-150 range. Upside could include case hit OR RC hot box.

    Good luck whatever you try.

I'm into game used as well as autos, but rookies and inserts are obviously nice!

Honestly, I've been debating on doing one box of UD Black and then several boxes of others, choosing from Game Used, Authentic, and Trilogy.

Anyone have input on this year's game used?

Also, I heard mention of 06-07 ITG Heroes and Prospects- what does a box tend to bring as far as hits?

    Thanks!

Between the Pipes could also be another box to consider. There have been some very sweet hits on SCF with it this year.

I personally like SP Game Used and Trilogy..

as for where to buy from, both dacardworld.com and blowoutcards.com price match! And they both have free shipping for the size of order youre considering. So look for the lowest price, and have one of those two websites price match. I like blowoutcards because I'm in NY and therefore have to pay sales tax for dacardworld (which is based in NY).
