My Roy Campanella Collection
Hi guys. I'm still fairly new here but I wanted to share my main collecting interest. It seems like most of the collectors here are mostly into modern so I hope you guys can appreciate the old stuff as well.
My first vintage card was this 1953 Topps Campanella. It's not in the greatest shape but it's probably my most cherished card. It's the one that got me interested in the old timers, especially those that played for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Right now I'm working on the PSA Basic set but I'm also adding a few cards to it: '59 Topps Symbol of Courage, 1961 Topps MVP, and (someday) a '54 Wilson's (although this one is too expensive for me to chase any time soon). Anyway. Here are the rest of the cards I've added over the last year.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks! I'm pretty picky about the cards in my collection. They have to be very close to perfectly centered and have terrific eye appeal for the grade.
I do not yet have any GU or autos. My goal is to get a pre-accident auto but those run several hundred dollars and I'm on a very limited budget. The GU go fairly cheap but I've just never pulled the trigger on one. But if anyone has one for trade let me know!

Very nice collection. I got to interview Campanella once in the 1980s at Dodgertown, and he could not have been more gracious.

I'm extremely jealous. I'm only 28 and I didn't get into the older players until a couple years ago. Obviously by then it was much too late to meet him. :( He was one of the greats and it just seems like he is one of the most under-rated players of his era.

If anyone has the following PSA graded cards (I will consider SGC as well) w/ nice eye appeal and great centering please let me know:
1950 Bowman PSA 5
1951 Bowman PSA 5-6
1953 Bowman Color PSA 5
1955 Bowman PSA 5-7
1959 Topps Symbol of Courage PSA 5-6
1961 Topps MVP PSA 6-7
I can only afford one at a time but if someone can help me out I would appreciate it. I'd like to finish up this "set" this year and these seem to be tough to find centered. Thanks!

Very very nice! I was SO close to getting a 52 Bowman Campanella the other night on ebay but got sniped at the last second :( I love the old stuff. You should check out my vintage collection which is a few threads under this one. I'd love your input!
