Heatley To Break Silence
Dany Heatley will break his silence on Friday and will participate in both a media conference call and a follow-up press conference in Kelowna, B.C to address his ongoing stalemate with the Ottawa Senators.
Heatley has denied all interview requests since asking for a trade in June. His motivation for finally discussing his situation is merely to deflect any negative attention from Canada's Olympic orientation camp which opens Monday in Calgary.
Heatley will be accompanied in Kelowna by agent Stacey McAlpine who says we shouldn't expect his client to shed much light on why the star winger wants out of Ottawa. "There are several factors and a variety of reasons," McAlpine told TSN. "However, out of respect to the Ottawa Senators and all involved, Dany is not getting into specifics...that will remain confidential."
JP Barry, who also represents Heatley, says if a trade doesn't take place before NHL training camps open, Heatley will honour his contract and will report to Ottawa as per usual.
Barry says the Senators have been officially notified Heatley will be in camp if his trade request isn't met.
While Heatley's return to Ottawa may generate some tension, Sens general manager Bryan Murray (via email) says that the Senators have no problem with Dany.

I love Heatley as a player and I really enjoyed getting to see him play in the World Championships last year in Halifax, but I really don't like how he is handling this situation. He is going to have a tough time playing in Ottawa this season and the fans will be unforgiving unless he does something drastic to clear his name. Lots of talent, not so much common sense sometimes :)

Good to see him possibly staying in Ottawa. Some of the reported offers for him were pretty awful, some even embarrassing. Good to see he did not totally mess Ottawa by refusing to play unless traded forcing them to take junk for him.

what? this is a guy that can't wait to get away from Ottawa and his fans. The only reason he didn't leave was because he only gave Ottawa a couple of teams to choose from as far as trade proposals. He's stuck because the other teams saw Ottawa was on the ropes and didn't offer close to full value for him. Without his no-trade clause he'd already be sulking in FloridaLast edited by Crater_Satori; 08-21-2009 at 02:48 PM.

Well he could have held out like many others have done, and given them nothing. If he plays he will score plenty, which is value to a team. This is still Dany Heatley, a 50-50-100 type of player. He's worth way more than Cogliano, Penner, and a pick or Rosival, Dubinsky and Zherdev.
