The Buffalo Sabres have signed unrestricted free agent LW Jeff Cowan.

Cowan is a veteran of 413 NHL games with Calgary, Atlanta, Los Angeles and Vancouver. The native of Scarborough, Ont. has collected 81 points and 695 penalty minutes in eight NHL seasons.

Cowan was originally signed by Calgary as an undrafted free agent on October 2, 1995, following a three-year OHL career with Guelph and Barrie.
