The Lakers without Kobe, I think they'll still be a playoff team, with a 45-52 win season.
52 wins without Kobe? That would only be 10 wins less than last year...well, 12 I think, but still...

The Rockets were really good last year when they were led by Ron Artest and Yao Ming at 53-29. So I assume that the Lakers would have a similar record when they'll be led by Ron Artest, Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Derek Fisher and along with a few other great role players. Plus, the Lakers have a more controlled and effective offense then the Rockets.
I'm not saying we're gonna be a championship team, but we would still be a great team, and could make a good run in the playoffs.Last edited by jeebus86; 08-23-2009 at 12:43 AM.

Cavs without Lebron would be screwed, but they might sneak their way into the playoffs, the East isn't that good, and the Cavs now have Shaq and a stronger bench.

But Pau, Odom and Fisher are better than Yao, Brooks and Battier...and to lose a career 24 PPG scorer for an entire season at the drop of a hat would be more than a 10 game falloff, IMO...look at what happened to the Wizards...not saying that's what would happen, but it is possible...

There's a difference though to what happened to the Wizards last year. They were completely decimated and lost more than one key player for parts or all of the season. That would be the equivalent to the Lakers losing Kobe, Pau, Odom, and Bynum to injury for most of the season, and suddenly having having Josh Powell, DJ Mbenga, and Sasha Vujachic in your starting lineup.
Like I said, the Wizards did just fine in 07-08 without Arenas in the lineup.

If I was asked this question at the start of last season, I would have thought no Dwight would mean probably sub-.500 for the Magic. Gortat is clearly nowhere near as good as Dwight, but he does enough, and I think anything between 45 and 50 wins is fairly possible.
