Kobe was 11th because he was still an unproven high schooler back then. KG was the first high schooler and he wasn't a superstar yet. So people being weary of high schoolers and drafting @ #11 is a safe choice.

That's actually incorrect - KG was the first high schooler drafted in the NBA since Moses Malone, and he was drafted in 1975, I believe.

Peja is class of 98-99. At least that was the year he started playing

Runny eggs are best over a rare steak.

If you consider like that, there are many problem like this.

    Case # 1
David Robinson was picked in 1987 # 1 pick.

But he started his career from 1989 because of Navy (Studying).

So He is class of 89 ?

    Case # 2
Dino Radja was picked in 1989(?) But he started his career from 1993

So he is class of 93?

    Case # 3
Zydrunas Ilgauskas was picked in 1996(20th-might be) but he started his career in 1997(As I know because of Injury) and He won Rookie All Star MVP.

So he is class of 97?

    Case # 4
Arvydas Sabonis was picked middle of 1980's(I can't remember exact year.)

But His career was from 1995.
The reason might be he lived in communism(Lithuania was one of USSR,at that time) country.

I think we might be able to consider players as another class(in other words it is year not drafted but started career in certain year) if player is in situation like Sabonis.
    (Time gap is too much.)

But if period is not much, we might be able to consider someone as class which he was first drafted.

    Just my OP.

P.S. : Yes Peja RC were from 1998-99.

And his only RCs might be SP Authentic, Topps and Topps Chrome.
    (1998-99 Product)

lol Just want to share this video.

Shawn Kemp might be the first H.S. Baller since Moses Malone.

Kemp was drafted as 17th(I can't remember exact pick) pick in 1989.

And Drazen Petrovic, Dino Radja, Toni Kukoc and etc. kinds foreigners(As American's watch) didn't go University college. But we might not consider them as H.S. Players.
