By Eric Stephens - NHL.com Correspondent
LOS ANGELES – Fans filtered in and out of the large air-conditioned tent that was buzzing with all things Los Angeles Kings, in the center of a metropolis where creating a buzz can be quite the challenge on a sweltering Saturday afternoon.

Kings fans are some of the most diehard in the NHL. We've had some of the worst owners in league history, while going along with the constant "rebuilding" years. Even with the recent success of the quacks in Anaheim, we remain loyal to the only original team from LA (think about it, every other team in LA started somewhere else).
Despite our loyalty, the simple fact is there aren't too many of us. The "fair-weather" fans would turn up again if the team has some success...or lands a star player.
Even I will admit I didn't watch the Kings until Gretzky arrived...but I was 10 years old then! I remember the local ABC-7 interrupting "Full House" to show the Gretzky press conference lol. Lots of those new fans left after Gretzky was traded to the Blues. But those of us who stayed, there is no doubting our loyalty.
I'm moving back to SoCal soon, and can't wait to go see a REAL Kings game again (It's great having them play once a year here in Las Vegas, but preseason just doesn't cut it). With all these great young players like Kopitar, Johnson, Doughty, Simmonds & Quick, and soon we'll have Thomas Hickey & Brayden Schenn, we may finally be on the right track. Been a long time coming!
