Well, obviously i'm happy!
I know most people think he's over rated, but he's still a great goaltender none the less :)

The NHL , who investigated bot Hossa and Pronger contracts , will surely take a look at this one. It's clear that the last 3 seasons are only to make the cap hit way lower .

Agreed.
That being said, I am one of the legions of Nucks fans who are very happy about this. Even if the contract is investigated and ultimately voided (which I really doubt) it shows that he wants to stay here long term.

I know this is sick, but I believe he could have got more out of another team.

How do you know Luongo couldn't have receive more from the Canucks? When players sign long-term contracts, it ultimately means that they will be paid less. Thus, Luongo will be paid on average $5.3 million per season. If he signed a 5 year or 3 year deal, you can bet he would've been paid about the same again, $7.5 million per season.
The thing with the numbers is, is that it guarantees him to stay with the Canucks for the rest of his career. Will he play until he's 42? Probably not. But it means he'll stay there until he retires.
I normally don't like these big contracts, especially for forwards (I have the Todd Bertuzzi syndrome still stuck in my head), but with a goalie such as Luongo, you can't go wrong. He's top 3 in the world, and has been for the past 5 years. You can bet if he was on a top team through his career like Brodeur, his stats (which everyone looks at) would be better, resulting in better chances at a Stanley Cup.

A great deal for both sides. Of course how long will his body hold up. At least they have him on the roster and that the big issue. Go Nucks.
