Sorry man I have to disagree, the U.S. gov't committed genocide and some how the U.S. gov't has never really accepted responsibility for this. IMO the least they can do is provide continued restitution to try and improve the lives of people whose ancestors suffered. We look down on what Hitler and Nazi Germany did but the American Gov't was far worse.

OK, tell me where or when does it end?.....or do you think that it should continue to the end of time?....I personally do not want my grandkids or great grandchildren continuing to pay for things that they had nothing to do with. I don't even think this generation or my kids should have pay these reparations. These folks have already been given enough. They live outside our laws and receive educational and tax benefits...When does it end?...I don't think the comparison to Nazi Germany is fair. I don't believe that the US gov. killed 6 million Indians.

It has been estimated that more Native Americans died than Jews as a result of European conquest of the New World. I'm not sure the U.S. gov't can ever make-up for what occured. As much as we celebrate the U.S.'s great moments in history we should not forget the evil acts that happened as well.

I can definitely see both sides to it. I've got a patient (an eight year-old girl) who is legally blind, but cannot get glasses because government funding was cut from her tribal insurance.

No, you want me to apply a generalization to specific historical events that occured w/in their own context. In cases where the gov't is directly responsible for the harsh treatment of a group of people, as w/ the Native Americans, resititution should be owed.

Your generalization is that if the Government was the direct reason for a people's suffering, said people should receive reparations, yes?

I think every example I gave applies. The Government is the direct reason for the suffering of Jews in Nazi Germany. The English Government is the direct reason for the suffering of the Indians, the South Africans, and the Scottish. The Spanish came into South America and did the exact same thing that the USA did to the American Indian.

So, does Germany owe Jewish people money? Does Parliament owe India, South Africa, and Scotland money? Does Spain owe much of South and Latin America money?

We're talking about something that happened more than 300 years ago, and you want to hand them Sorry Money. Sorry for what? That some people hurt some people that neither of us know?

While it will never happen U.S. (Native Americans), Spain (Latin America), Great Britain (India, Middle East, and Africa), French (Africa), Germany (Africa), owe something to the people and the countries they ruined do to imperialism. Every culture and country hit my imperialism has suffered devastating and long lasting consequences-ones that are still witnessed 300 years later.

Your views on this are ridiculous. Why should my money go to people that have never had an injustice done to them? Neither of us have wronged the other! It makes no sense. That'd be extremely condescending to throw Sorry Money their way after more than three centuries have passed.

What good would all these reparations that you demand do? Would they make the world safer? Would the American Indians become a powerful economic force with their pitiful reparation checks from me? No. This is just so people with some really weird mental block can get over their guilt for the white skin they bare.

It is not the responsibility of the Govt to provide glasses for this girl. It is the responsibility of the parents to provide for their kids. That being said, I don't believe a child anyplace , anytime or anywhere, should have to go without sight. If you don't want to provide this kid with some glasses on the house, just PM me the cost and I will pay for it. I've probably whizzed off more on ball cards this past month, when you think of it....kinda stupid!

As orig stated by Titantron "They have casinos. a license to print money." They choose to squander and misuse these millions of $ a week in revenue. They do not deserve any type of funds whatsoever, let them work with what they have, if they abuse what they have then too bad let them work it out among themselves.

And btw the people arguing the the reparations thing, it is not about that. This is about a group of people who what the $ to do things for themselves but choose not to..
