Jordan Farmar wants to start
SINGAPORE (AP) - Los Angeles Lakers reserve point guard Jordan Farmar wants be a starter, either with the Lakers or another NBA team.
"I want to run a team and be the lead guard," Farmar said Tuesday on the sidelines of a basketball clinic in Singapore. "Hopefully, it can be here (with the Lakers)."
"There's a lot of jobs out there. I feel I have a lot to offer."
The 22-year-old Farmar averaged 6.4 points and 2.4 assists in 65 regular-season games last season as the Lakers won their 15th championship. Farmar, who will be entering his fourth year with the Lakers, saw his playing time drop last season to an average of 18.3 minutes per game from 20.6 the previous season.

Sounds like he may end up being on his way out of LA...too bad, because I think he has a good amount of potential, and would probably become the starter later this season or next season, as Fisher isn't going to be around for too much longer.

Why can't he just wait til Fisher retires? He's got a ring, he thinks he can do whatever now.

I've always liked Farmar's confidence and his sort of fearless attitude ever since he came into the league, he sort of reminded me of a young Kobe. But over the years, and especially last year, i've come to realize he's just not that talented, and a lot of times his overconfidence and cockiness causes him to make some really careless plays.
He needs too realize that he's just a good role bench player on a championship team, nothing more, and if he does want to become a starter, he better begin packing his bags because I doubt he'll get it with the Lakers. And to tell the truth, he should worry more about Shannon Brown taking his reserve minutes rather then worrying about becoming a starter.Last edited by jeebus86; 09-06-2009 at 01:14 AM.

Of course he wants to start. If you have a professional athlete on a team and they dont want to start then something is wrong. I dont see where he would have much leverage though. Fisher is getting up there in age but then again, the Lakers did just win their 15th championship with him.

Tough to justify giving him the starting spot. Think about it. Your playing time goes down and your team wins a title.

I like Farmer. Fish is the vet though, hard to say.

He said he wants to start not that he's going to start... I could actually see Farmar starting in the 2nd half of the season, so fisher doesn't have to play that much

He is a decent plkayer but he is not going to be a starter on a winning team....at least not this season. He should be patient and wait
