Well, considering this was from the FIRST set of jersey cards released, it wouldn't surprise that upper deck decided to use every part of the players jersey to create these cards. I've seen many variations of these early jersey cards, some with multi-color patches, logoman, and even parts of a player's autograph. It wasn't until later on where Upper Deck decided to categories these types of cards differently.
Like jeremy said, if it was a fake, it should say "altered" on it, since the jersey is still part of the card.
And it just doesn't make sense to me as to why somebody would want to fake and potentially ruin an already $1600 card.

Well, that really doesn't prove anything, those are just people's opinions. And there are some people on that thread who also say it's real.
Like I said, I've seen MANY different variations of these jersey cards.

honestly, this issue with grading companies "authenticating" cards is just BS!! many scammers are out there replacing jersey swatches with patches, sending them to beckett or psa or etc, and then selling them for a premium.
the nba logoman here in this MJ is as fake as can be, i swear. upperdeck never wouldve imagined putting logoman patches in their cards in the 1990's. the best thing would be to compare an authentic version of these cards to this one to see if the white jersey bit is the same as this nba logoman version.
if there was to be a logoman patch in these 96-97 UD jersey cards, Im sure it would'nt have taken 10 years for it to finally surface to the public. this has really ticked me this card seeing its been "authenticated". that should also give it away that its a fake. if the bloke wanted it to be authenticated, im sure he wouldve rathered it got actually "graded". he on purpose wanted it to be "authenticated" so that way he can turn around and say "its authentic dude, PSA wouldve known if it wasnt". thats my 2cents anyway
I could see this guys point, but then how do we explain this card:

This one is "graded" and it's also one of his early jersey cards before upper deck made patch and logoman cards. Also, this had to be graded in the early 2000s since it has the old BGS tag on it.
I don't know, it's gonna take a lot for me to believe that somebody would want to fake such a high-end card like these ones.
I guess the only true way to find out is to ask upper deck......and I've done that already.... and they completely blew me off saying that they can't disclose that kind archive information and that i would have to send the card into BGS or PSA to get it authenticated.
SO if we can't trust BGS OR PSA, who the heck can we trust??? Because I'm sure not gonna base my opinion about these cards from some guy on a discussion board.Last edited by jeebus86; 09-12-2009 at 11:53 PM.
