Hey Player Collectors: Your Thoughts on Dupes?
Hey All:
Just wanted to pose a question to all the other player collectors out there. Do you go after duplicates of stuff of your guy(s)? If so, what do you go after for multiples? Is there a particular card or cards you will get multiples of, no matter how many you already have?
Let me know in this thread!

I do not go after doubles, one is plenty good for me!

I don't trade specifically for duplicates, but I will take them in a trade if I am getting others that I don't have, in case the one copy I have becomes damaged in some way - plus, having dupe KGs is nice when I find another KG collector - we both are able to help each other out that way.

Duplicates are fine for me with my Joe Johnson collection.
If it's un-numbered usually i don't trade much for them, but if the card is numbered then i pretend like i really need the card lol

no need to have more than one unless I'm upgrading because of card condition. but i don't keep the double for long. i do have a lot of multiples in my Jordan PC, but I pulled all of them and haven't been able to trade them. There are a few exceptions. I picked up a lot of 20 1990 UD Griffey's for $2.52 shipped. I couldn't pass up on his second year card for $.10 each.
the beautiful part of collecting ... to each his or her own

I get multiples of numbered, autos, or a different color of GU... for instance, My Magglio collection has about 75 GU in it which a few are the same just different colors, White/Gray.... Other than that though i dont get GU that is the same color unless it is numbered or dupes of anything numbered really high.

i think its kind of pointless, cause there are so many other cards to get..
I would only get a dupe if it was a good deal and you could flip it for more later..
or and this is the only exception, if it was a patch card or something and it had a totally different patch, so that kind of makes it a new card

The only time I would get a duplicate of any card is if that card is an auto with a different auto or inscription, or the GU/Patch has a different color or design. OR unless you know this particular card would sell for $100 and you can get it for $10. Otherwise, why bother.

Problem is always budget. =)
For example, I would want to get all 1997-98 Star Rubies Alonzo Mourning.
(But I have only one. =( )
As real, I had plan to 10 T-MAC CM and 10 Sheed CM.
(Because I like T-MAC and Sheed)
But I only have 2 of them like this.

But I don't want all of dupe. Like above, I want to get only valuable Dupe or looking nice cards like this.

Or if there is certain reason, I would want to get dupe like this.

There are only 3 certificated College Robert Horry's autograph.(and non- NBA authenticated autograph)
So I collected Dupe like that.
