Stafford auto 1/1, Thoughts?
Hey, everyone. I'm new around here. Just started getting back in to collecting, and bought a couple of boxes off ebay. Ended up pulling a 2009 Bowman Draft Picks Stafford auto 1/1. Needless to say it has me getting back into collecting full force.
How do you guys get a good gauge on value for the low serial number cards that beckett doesn't have a book value for?
Anyways, thanks for having me. Hope to learn a thing or two from everyone.

Check for similar completed auctions on eBay. I'd look at low numbered Stafford autos (#/25 and less), taking into account what brand they are and how that brand compares to Bowman DP, and any Bowman 1/1 autos, taking into account which player it is and how that player compares to Stafford. For example, if you see an Elite Stafford 1/1 and a Hakeem Nicks Bowman DP 1/1, the Bowman DP 1/1 would be somewhere between the two. You can usually find enough similar cards to form a decent reference point for it.
Very, very nice hit by the way...better than anything I've pulled in the 4 years since I returned to collecting. Congrats!

Thanks for the tips OnePimp. I have to say that I was shocked when I pulled it. Problem is, that one pull will have me spending thousands upon thousands of dollars.
I'll take a look at Ebay and see what things look like.

you could always throw it up on ebay for a ridiculous buy it now price with best offer and see what happens.
very nice pull!

If you're just looking for a rough idea of what it's worth, put it on eBay at a very inflated buy it now price. It'll cost you 35 cents to get 7 days of offers. If you're buy it now price is too high, you might get a little lower offers than you should. Just take that into account.

Eastrise15 and gamblescardshack, never thought of that. Thanks for the idea guys. Sure wish he wasn't playing for the Lions. Not sure anyone can succeed on that team.
Also, what is everyone's opinion on deciding to keep cards or sell them. Even though the card is a 1/1, if Stafford ends up sucking, the value won't go anywhere but down (I would assume). So I'm trying to figure out if I'm better off selling now, while it is still unknown if or how bad he'll suck, or wait it out in the hopes that he somehow does well in Detroit.
Thanks again for everyone's feedback.

yah selling it now would be your best move, all the top hot rookies start out at super inflated prices that leave very little room to rise, and tons of room to drop. You gotta realize that 90% of the top hot rookies drop in price after a year or two and the only reason they are getting that price now is because none of us really know which will maintain as top athletes and which will sink to reality so theyre all going for top dollar until they prove themselves one way or the other, and if you dont think he stands much of a chance because of the team hes on then the only smart thing to do would be to sell.
If nothing else sell and then wait for spa or contenders and pick up one of his or sanchez's rc autos from those sets, at least then you'll have one from one of the top sets and by then you'll know how well they actually did.
