Phaneuf hit on Okposo...
For folks who missed that hit in yesterday's pre-season game , here it is :
I hope the NHL will suspend him for 1 or 2 games because he clearly left his feet...

It looks like he went up off the ice for the hit. I read that the Islanders kept challenging him and he would not drop the gloves with anybody. Can't wait for the regular season game between the two teams.

Hey the kid had his head down cutting through center. I know he was a rookie last year maybe this will wake him up. I don't see anything dirty about it. It looked clean to me.

I agree and disagree with you. Like you said , the hit himself was clean. We all agree on that .
The thing is , if you take a look at how he hit him , his feet were in the air , that's why i say the NHL should take a look at this incident.

Yes , some Islanders players spent a lot of time running after Phaneuf just to drop gloves against him but you see , he was hiding.

To me it looks like the coming off his feet until after the check happened. However i think he should have laid off the check as Okoposo was off balance before the check which is what made it so bad.

Maybe a tad biased but looks like Phaneuf left his feet to me. I like his game but a little too reckless at times and I think this is one of them. I would think a 1-2 game suspension would be right seeing as Okposo only recieved a minor concusion and facial cuts. Okposo may have had his head down but leaving your feet to make a blind side check is pretty un-called for, Phaneuf could have made just as much impact and put the fear of God in Okposo with a clean open ice hit.
Kudos to Pascal Morency for the payback even though he is a much smaller player (5'10/195 lbs) he showed character...listed his stats below for the hell of it...Phaneuf is lucky it wasn't Brendan Witt coming out there to lay some whup-***. I hope phaneuf realizes the Islander hit monster Hunter will probably have his # next time and maybe a small thanks to Phaneuf for possibly creating a gelling incident for the Islanders...shout out to Biron.
Maybe the Islanders should dig up Kasparitis to lay out some hits and plug in Baumgartener and Vukota to clean up the mess
