    Auction Fever Strikes Again

Once upon a time I considered bidding on these two 08/09 Cup Programme of Excellence (PoE) auto cards (Gretzky and Crosby), since I really like the set and I'm trying to collect it. These auctions by the same seller show what happens when two determined bidders get going. The auctions aren't over yet but the cards are already at about double the going rate...wow:

    1) Gretzky PoE:

    2) Crosby PoE:

It's nice to save on ship when you buy multiple items from the same seller, but... Any thoughts on where the final prices will end up?

Awesome cards but if there a set builder out there who knows where the final bid might end up.

I'm not surprised. With a set like that, which has an exceptionally low print run, a relatively novel theme with broad appeal, sharp design, and strong player selection, there should be bidding wars.

So the auctions have ended and the final price was frozen at a cool grand for each card.

To the second highest bidder who tried so hard: I think you dodged a bullet...and kept your wallet intact...hopefully there'll be others for sale.

To the winner of each auction: nice cards!

Interesting that it was the same bidders on both auctions... While it seems that the winner was trying to win, the 2nd bidder attempts are less then convincing... I think the 2nd bidder was probably aware of who the high bidder would be and make their life frustrating... I am by NO means saying the seller was responsible (ie. shilling) because I do not believe the seller was doing that... Still interesting though!!

Crazy price for both of the cards, looked like a serious PC collector wanted both of em hard for a grand.
