    Rookies To Collect

I did a little studying on what 2009 rookie to collect and my results surprised me. Right now I would say its fair to say that Sanchez and Stafford cards have the highest value. However, I would say that a better player to collect would be one that you expect to win rookie of the year. This is the way a card will really rise in value. While Ryan won ROY last year, he was only the third quarterback to win since the award started being given out. Infact, of the 41 people who have won the award, 31 have been running backs and 7 have been receivers. This makes the odds terrible for a rookie like Sanchez or Stafford to spike in value next year but rather their values will only slowly drop. The smarter move would to be pick one of the top running backs who you think to make an impact. I am going with Brown this year because his value is pretty low right now and he is in the perfect situation with a high-power offense. I also like Moreno and might pick up some of his stuff too. If you really like a certain WR you can collect him too with better odds than a big QB. So what Im saying is, dont blow your money on a biq name QB when the odds say their value will only go down, but make an investment with the running back you think will make an impact, whether it be Moreno, Wells, Brown or even a Mccoy or Greene.

Did you not read his whole post? Invest in them all you want, dont expect a return on your money! in fact expect to lose money invested on Stafford, and Sanchez... thats all hes sayin! backed up by %s and stats over the years...

I personally thought it was a very insightful post!

If I had to pick a lower caliber Rookie, I would select Percy Harvin WR for Minnesota Vikings, a fraction of the price of a Sanchez, or Stafford with a Hall of Famer throwin to him, and the best RB in the league on his side! Stack the box, cause this guys gonna burn you!!

Haha thanks for understanding my point. Harvin is a nice choice because he can put up the stats of a rookie RB but get receiving yards as well.

I'm sorry if I misread the title. It said "Rookies to Collect", not "Rookies to Invest In".

I just collect to collect. I never thought of this hobby as an investment. I always thought proper investment was with stocks, bonds, or precious metals. I didn't realize there was a fortune to be made with cardboard depicting men in tight clothing. My apologies.

Ya but the overall point of collecting is to get the best players isnt it? Im saying the QBs this year wont live up to their ridiculous expectations. I guarantee ask any collector about trading and they want the card with higher value. If you collect just to collect why not dump all your high value cards for cheap guys you like?

Nice post. I am spending a bit more than I would normally spend on Mike Wallace. Granted I have the luxury that, if he fails, I collect Steelers but I think he is gonna be something. Sweed hasn't taken off and as much as I love watching him play, Ward is on his 11th year.

That's the problem - the guys I like don't come cheap.
