    Angry worst card buying experience

while shopping for tiger cub stuff for my son at walmart saw some boxes i was gonna buy one was an sp authentic 2003 baseball which i was surprised walmart had ,the box said 4.97 per pack box price 79.97 so i figured i was good to go,get to the register box rings up for like 96.50 so i asked the cashier why it cost that much she tells me they have to charge pack price because the product is supposed to be opened and sold a pack at a time ,well i get the manager figuring i would get the price stated on the box ,no such luck as he tells me the same thing needless to say for charging me 16 dollars more for the box i put everything else i had back and left without spending a dime.question fellow collectors did i do the right thing or was i just being too stubborn thanks for the read take care spuds

That's strange that this happened to you. I've been able to get the box price at Walmart before just buying the 24 packs...I think you did the right thing. I definitely wouldn't have bought it!

Definetly, there is no reason to just buy the whole box and get charged extra.. Thats obsured.

If you still really want the box, go there buy 5 packs or so at a time and keep going to different registeres.. Yes its a bit in taxes, but it should be an extra 16 dollars

    walmart??
take it from a guy that used to work there
kick up a fuss and they'll bend over for you.

I hated working there because even when you are totally right or wrong, 'the customer is always right'

lol I know a guy that bought a bbq at one store and exchanged it at walmart because it wasn't working right. Walmart didn't even sell that brand, but they took it anyways, and gave him one of theirs. I don't agree with their standpoint, customers can and will be wrong from time to time, but you were in the right and if that box had a price on it, they should have sold it to you for that price no matter what :(

I've had the same thing happen to me tons of times. Usually I raise a big fuss in the middle of the day (sometimes midnight) with 5-6 people behind me. They'll bend over backwards to please you.

If not, you did the right thing. Walk out. It's against the law to not sell product at the posted price.

While I agree with you here is the crux of the problem and I have had it happen to me. Those "unopened boxes" are not designed to be sold as boxes, they are designed to be sold as individual packs. I have had the problem happen to me as well. I dont get mad, however, because the boxes are for the shelf for packs. They aren't a hobby store, and dont discount box sales on items like that usually. It's still within your right to not purchase anything, but I know the boxes they get for packs sometimes do not get opened and shelved properly.

And to add a side note, I have never seen a wal mart (and I go to about 20 different ones) that has an unopened box of packs that are designed to be packed out have a retail box price on them.
