    Where else do you trade???

I know this might not seem right to ask this question but I think there are a lot of other places online to trade. SCF has been great for me and I hope it stays that way, but i just wanted to know these other places to trade and the ups & downs of them also the security. Like which sports card fan wouldnt want to look at more cards? thanks for your help. And again SCF is and will always be my home, just looking for advice.

While there are several other places to trade online, SCF is among the best.

HI is also an excellent site to trade on, and you'll notice a lot of member crossover on the two sites. They probably have the most active hockey boards that I'm aware of.

Beckett has recovered a bit of traffic since they P'd off basically everyone by changing introducing a new web design that is much less user freindly. That mess up drove many members to focus their activities on SCF and HI. Beckett probaby gets the most passive traffic of all the sites mentioned, but I think the user interface confuses most, and turns many off. They trade system is actually supposed to be very good, however.

UCB is another site that has some good folks to trade with, but traffic there really seems to be almost non-existent these days, unfortunately.

CnC is the new kid on the block, and they seem to have built up a bit of a following, but they certainly aren't in the realm of SCF right now, and I think they'll be pretty hard pressed to catch up. They do seem to have a dedicated staff who promote the heck out of the site though.

I guess there's no guarantees, but I haven't been ripped off... YET. So far, I've only traded with people who I've gotten to know. I know that doesn't guarantee squat, but at least now I know I can trust them... assuming they don't rip me off in our later trades ;-)

    how secure can that be???

I have tried other sites, including UCB and Facebook, but lately I have settled into SCF and HI as my main sites. The two sites have different atmospheres, I guess whether you like it or not depends on how you fit into the member base. Some examples:

    - SCF has well balanced activity with all sports attracting a large number of collectors.
    - HI is more of a hockey board and other sports see very little activity in comparison.

    - SCF has the fully integrated trade manager, best on the web in my opinion.
    - HI has a more manual trade system, still works better than some others I have seen but just takes a bit more effort on the part of the trader to utilize.

    - SCF is more open to recruiting staff from the member base and the infraction system ensures every case is handled fairly. Having been on the staff here before I saw first hand how much work the various teams put in to improve the site and hold contests for the members, second to none!
    - HI is run by a smaller group and one false step could result in a ban, I was never behind the scenes over there so I can't comment on how the staff works together.

    - SCF attracts collectors of all ages and tastes, and seems to be more welcoming to younger collectors.
    - HI is mostly made up of an older, more "serious" crowd. There is excellent discussion and more high-end cards/breaks than you tend to see on SCF.

    - SCF has a wealth of functions and applications that members can take advantage of, with more being added all the time.
    - HI has far fewer applications, but does offer a chat room that is used extensively and publishes a hard-copy magazine that I must say is very well done.

That's just a few examples of the differences between both sites.

When it comes down to it I think you will feel more welcome here on SCF. There are things about HI that I enjoy, but it takes a while to get accepted into the crowd over there. I have been there for over a year and I still don't feel entirely welcome, yet I have been comfortable here on SCF since day one and I think the atmosphere is far more open to new or younger collectors.
