can you honestly look at the other teams in the conference and say for sure Phoenix is a better team than them?? I just don't see a clear case of them over any other West team

Well I think Phoenix has just as good a chance as any of the bottom half of the Western Conference of squeaking into the playoffs

I don't think they'll fight for a playoff spot. They don't really improve, they just get bigger. Nobody can't score and there's a big question mark between the pipes.
The defence is better for sure (even if I hate to see Komisarek there), but that's all

The Islanders and Panthers will be bottom of the barrel teams this year no doubt. The Panthers lost their seconde best player, and the Isles are too young and play in the best division in hockey. I can see Toronto hanging around the 8-11 spots. The Rangers have nothing on defense, but they have a solid group of 2 way forwards much like NJ which will cover some of their defensive holes. Also, don't be fooled by the "Tortarella system" myth. The guy walked in last year and swore he'd never trap, yet when the chips were down (last 7 games of season plus playoffs) all he did was trap and the team was actually better doing it. I see them ending up in the 10-14 spot simply because they can not score.
