Bad news: Jobs market (still) getting worse
Bad news: Jobs market getting worse
Employers cut more jobs from their payrolls in September and the unemployment rate hit another 26-year high, as the long-battered U.S. labor market took an unexpected turn for the worse, according to a government report Friday.
The Labor Department said there was a net loss of 263,000 jobs in the month, up from a revised loss of 201,000 jobs in August. Economists surveyed by Briefing.com had forecast losses would fall to 175,000 jobs.
Wasn't Bernanke and the Obamastration just touting the improvement in the job market?
One thing I noticed in the article:
The unemployment rate rose to 9.8% in September from 9.7% in August. That was in line with economists' forecasts, but the unemployment rate is now the highest since June 1983.
Everyone has compared this recession to the Great Depression, which I've said was incorrect all along, but this, once again, shows it's not even close...if we're just meeting the unemployment level for 1983, we're a long way from Great Depression numbers.

****, Titan, you beat me to it. I was just cracking my knuckles, about to post how racist OPT is for posting statistics and facts about the economy under a president who just happens to be half-black. Glad we're equally appalled!

fair enough OPT. Just having fun, but I understand. I'll stop. Time to get back to my debate with Yanks about Godzilla's travel habits anyway.

The sad fact is that Obama is replicating the same mistakes of FDR and Carter. He pumped over a trillion dollars into the economy and created short-term jobs and did NOTHING for business. JFK and Reagan understood the economy, cut taxes and orchestrated a nice economic recovery.
We have officially passed all the unemployment number Obama and Democrats stated we wouldn't pass if we spent $1 trillion.

Technically, that's not true. He has done things for business, it's just none of them have been beneficial to business.
