Angry Sorry - just venting about an auction

Well, as some of you may know, I live in Florida. Lately we have been getting pounded by hurricanes (thankfully everything is ok).

At the end of last August, a very nice 8 color dual patch of Jermaine O'neal and Ron Artest went up on ebay. This is the only patch of Artest I have ever seen, and I had my eyes on it. I bid $25 and lost - the card went for $27.

So not too long ago, the person that bought it listed it again. I decided this time that I was getting that card no matter what. I watched it like a hawk for days, but then had to shut down the computer 4-5 days before it ended due to hurricanes. I figured I would have internet soon anyway.

So it ended last Tuesday, and I got my internet back tonight. Guess how much it went for? $14! Fourteen stinking dollars. It was a very nice card, I've never seen another Artest patch.

That's my story of hurricane anger and hurt to a collector's ego. Thanks for the read - sorry for the ranting :(

That really sucks. I lost a Nook Logan Mirror Emerald /5 card once due to a power outage. I was willing to spend $30... it sold for $10.50!

Yeah - I was just so mad about this one because it was an AWESOME card, and I've never seen another Artest patch (and I check Artest cards on ebay at least once a day).

No, I just search Artest - only 2 pages usually come up anyway.

Sorry about your missed auction but.....Why didn't you bid on it right away when you saw it a second time & then watch it ?

I don't like bidding before the end because I think it really drives the price up. The other 2-3 people that were bidding on it last time did that and made it go for almost 2X the $14.

Major bummer. But you know what? That's what makes collecting fun. Like, when you do get your Artest patch (and you will), it will make it that much sweeter! I got a lot of stories similar to yours. The longer you are forced to wait, the sweeter the 'get' will be.
