From what I read on another forum, it looks like Toskala
. I still believe in Toskala, but after letting in 4 goals on 20 something shots, why not let Gustavsson have his big break and start. Wilson should have both of the goalies trying to prove who's the #1 right away.
Besides, once the Monster starts, Upper Deck can start producing his Young Gun!

I can't say I agree with this. I imagine Monster is still adjusting to the North American game. The last thing I wanna see is us bringing him in against an offensive juggernaut like the Capitals. Next thing you know they score on him seven times; his confidence is shot, the media is in a frenzy...ohhhhh boy.
Baby steps with Monster is the way I'd like to see us develop him. Start him off against a team like Florida, or Atlanta, and slowly work him along. If he blows everyone away, then maybe kick things into high gear and throw him in against the heavy hitters.
He needs work on his rebound control as far as I'm concerned. Let's not throw him right into the fire. We'll just end up getting burned.

I want to see gustafsson as much as the next start but let's be realistic: toskala gets the start. Btw, he made a few nice saves late in the habs game to give the leafs at least the single point

Come to think of it, that makes sense.

I say start him against the Rangers on October 12th at MSG. A team that has some offensive threats, but nothing too overwhelming...and he's away from the ACC and Toronto Media for his first big start.
See how he performs, and go from there.

already a softy by Ovie on Toskala.........ouch
ok.....now allowed 3 on 7 shots and 4 on 27 in game one.......say what you want but sometimes you just gotta stop the puck......playing with no confidence, so now if not the monster, what can wilson do.......for too many years we have been just out of a playoff postion and you can't just let early season points get away.............stop the puck, please!!!!!!!!!!!Last edited by aurorasdad; 10-03-2009 at 07:54 PM.

Wow, I am definately glad Toskala started the game. Even though Gustavsson has let in 3 goals, I don't think this will hurt him as much as it would have if he started.

the first goal the monster allowed was after he had stopped semin 3 times without him having to worry about being knocked on his arse and the third beauchemin kicked in........he has looked a lot more solid than toskala........who do you start next game? if not the monster, mcdonald?
game over and a 6-4 loss.....if he is not such a sieve in the first and makes a couple saves like the opposing goalie, this' a different hockey game.......the beat goes on, something has to be done about the worst save % in the leagueLast edited by aurorasdad; 10-03-2009 at 09:44 PM.
