    Is Beckham worth this?

I stumbled across a Beckham auto card on ebay (which I own) The seller is wanting $1,000+ for the card. Does the value increase because of the mere fact that it is an auto on card as opposed to the sticker version? As mentioned here, I do have this particular card and would welcome your opinions. Cant believe I almost got rid of mine for $170! Here is the link if anyone is interested http://cgi.ebay.com/2002-UD-Man-Utd-David-Beckham-on-card-auto_W0QQitemZ270454233756QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_SM _Sports_Cards?hash=item3ef8541a9c&_trksid=p3286.c0 .m14

The fact that its not even professionally graded and wanting such an astronomical amount seems ludicrous. I can see it fetching a decent amount, but not anything near the buy it now price tag. Would be keen to know what the bv would be on this card though.

That price does seem quite inflated. I don't see anyone paying the seller's asking price.

Any idea as to how much this specific card would perhaps fetch?

Came across this on ebay recently as well. David Beckham 2002 UD ManUtd Match Worn Shirt #DB-S for $69.99 seems a tad pricey as well surely.

There seems to be no end to the crazy prices for current stars - C. Ronaldo and Beckham cards - autographs especially - can be in the $500 to $800 range.

The worth is ALWAYS what someone is willing to pay for the item.

The better question would be what is it worth to you ?

Glad you held on to your Beckham card. Autographs of George Best cards are also in that range.

    cheers

The problem with soccer cards, is the fact that it comes down to personal sentimentality. Its always difficult to put value on such an item, and even harder knowing that you dont have much to compare the value of such cards. Knowing that one can obtain bv for Football, Hockey, basketball cards etc. makes it so much easier to work out whether both parties (buyer and seller) are getting an equal deal. Im not saying thats always the case, but its helpful to have that extra info before buying and selling. However, when it comes to soccer cards, we dont have that luxury. Perhaps we should start a thread on sportscardforum regarding this subject. Putting our heads together, and discuss what certain players should average in the soccer card industry, pending on the card of course.

I think a price guide would be a great tool to use as a reference but unfortunately I don't think such an ambitious project exists. Would be great if someone could put something like it together.
