There is no controversy. Its a liberal award that went to the world's biggest liberal representative. Liberals usually think they have good intentions and this award was given to Obama based solely on his rhetoric and presumed good intentions. There is no argument that can even be made that Obama was given this award for accomplishments. He has accomplished nothing so far. I suppose it could be for his accomplishments before he became President......I hear Chicago is a very PEACEFUL City now.

Completely undeserved, I think. Nevertheless, let the rabid right-wingers start their braying and screeching about how the Nobel Prize is an evil socialist conspiracy, just like the Olympics became the very instant Obama expressed personal interest in it.

nominations for the award cut off only two weeks after he took office. Meaning, he was nominated for the award within 14 days. Seriously! He did more in 14 days then anyone else in the world? Of course this is a joke award

The Nobel Peace Prize has been a joke for decades, Obama getting it really is not that surprising.
The NPP has been given to a warmonger like Yassir Arafat and to Al Gore for his neat Power Point presentation on global warming, but people like Mahatma Gandhi and Pope John Paul II, who worked their entire lives for peace and harmony, have been overlooked.

Maybe they felt bad that he couldn't win the Olympics

Maybe he'll put the 1.4 mil in the healthcare fund

This quote from CNN sums it up:
Obama was selected not for substantive accomplishments, but for his “vision” and inspiring “hope” at the very beginning of his presidency.
Basically, he got it for nothing he has done, but what he says he will do...and obviously the Norwegian Nobel Committee hasn't gotten the memo that not all of what he says he will do actually gets done. I'd wager this is the first time the Nobel Prize has been given to someone for what they say they'll do before they actually do it.
Another CNN headline says it perfectly:
'A' for effort before finishing his test?
