Autographs or Game Used - Which Do You Prefer?
Simple question, feel free to expand upon your poll response.
Me, I like autographs better. I've collected autographs of players ever since I was a little kid, back at the Andy Moog golf tournament in Penticton every summer. I thought it was the coolest thing getting the guys to sign cards, promo sheets, etc. Even though many of the game's big stars don't invest a ton of time into making a quality scribble, they're still really cool things to have.
While I was initially impressed with the concept of the game-used jersey card, it's something that does wear off rather quickly. That said, I do have some pretty sweet swatches & patches (including a Complete Jersey) in my collection.
And yeah, it's even nicer when you can combine the two.
Discuss.

I like Base cards :D
If I had to go between AU or GU, I'd say GU. They're a lot cheaper most of the time.

i like true rookies but if i had to choose between autos and gu i would have to say autos as they hold there value and yea jersey and auto is a big plus

No doubt, I prefer autographs over GU'd, unless it happens to be a card with a signature and a piece of GU'd material or sweet patch.

Hard signed is my first choice, nothing wrong with a great patch though.

I picked "about the same".
Really though, it depends on why I want that card.
With my Bill Ranford collection, I've already got tons of Autographs. I more look foward to a new design for GU cards than Autos. Especially when we're talking about patches.... the next release is never going to look quite the same as the last one. (That being said, I don't miss out on a chance to get a new auto'd card either).
My Oilers collection, on the other hand, I'm much more into the Autos. That has a lot to do with the fact that you can get an auto from everyone.... and the don't make GU cards of every player.

I'm in the about the same group. Although I like getting patches when breaking open packs. I do also get the same satisfaction in an auto... Especially hard signed.
But then again I don't discriminate away from base either if it goes toward a set I am building.
