darkhorse goalies
Hey I am thinking of getting one of these guys cup rookie's but not sure which to get. Brian Elliot, Jeff Deslauriers and Jaroslav Halak. Who do you think has the biggest upside? Thanks a lot!

I've been collecting Elliott & Jonas Hiller for the same reason. Recently added Ondrej Pavelec as well.
I wouldn't disagree with any of the guys you suggested though.

I would think Halak. The only problem I could see is that when he's eventually traded out of town (becuase I think they will go with Price for the long haul) he could wind up somewhere like Florida where he'll get no hobby love.
Deslauries' development has been wrecked by bad managment decisions in Edmonton (and he's going to be stuck behind Khabilbulin for this year, and another 3).
Elliot has potentail too. I don't think as good of a goalie as Halak, but you might see him steal the starter's job between now and next season.

I say Elliot. Not many people collect his stuff and he actually has a chance to become the Sens #1. Halak will most likely be behind Price forever unless he falls apart.

i was thinking the same that Elliot has a legitimate chance of getting the starter spot out of the 3. however Something tells me that Deslauriers has the biggest potential. Who is the safest bet in your opinion?

Halak hands down, but he is also the best Slovakian goaltender in the world, and may give his team a chance to surprise in this year's Olympics...

Elliott has two "T"s lol, everyone spells his name wrong. Anyways, I would say barring an injury to Leclaire, Elliott will not become the starting goalie anytime soon. Even when Leclaire eventually does leave, Elliott is not guaranteed the starting job, Sens just drafted Robin Lehner in the draft and he looks like a very promising goaltender prospect.
IMO it's really a flip of a coin, Elliott or Halak, both easily have the ability to be starting goaltenders, but neither will be at the moment on their current teams.

The thing that makes Elliott interesting though, is that "Leclaire" and "injuries" aren't exactly very big iffs. He's be hurt, off and on, his whole career. If he got hurt this year, Elliott came in.... played great.... and stole the job.... that would makes two seasons in a row Leclaire got bumped in favour of a younger, healthy, goaltender.
