Got a Michael Jordan signed card- Need honest opinion
I got this card back in 2001 from a friend I met on Beckett online, through trading. He had gotten it from a source on eBay. I need an opinion on this as some say it looks good as others say it looks fake and only real ones are hand numbered out of 23. This is one of the blowup cards from 1999 UD Final Floor.
I need opinions, as I recently tried to sell this eBay and it was pulled because "of the advice of a third party authentication company." I was thinking about sending it in to get it authenticated, but wanted some advice first off. Let me know what you think. Thanks for your help. PHIL

Well, i could tell you one thing, this is not one of the original autos from the UD Final Floor series. Like you said, all the floor autos from that set are numbered to #/23. If anything else this was probably an IP auto.
With being said, I think it could be real, the only thing that concerns me is the top of the "J." IDK, it just doesn't look as smooth as I think it should. But really, the only way to know for sure is to get it authenticated.

You are right the "J" seems to have a "shaky hand" part at the beginning of the letter as it loops around, as compared to the rest of the signature. Look at the picture below I took of a closer look -I highlighted the area in a red box. Other opinions?

I moved this to Card Talk as it's more appropriate for discussion/opinions than Show & Tell, which is geared more toward recent personal collection addition threads for congratulatory purposes.
Anyhow, I agree in this instance that authentication would be best, especially given that eBay situation.

good luck with that, theyll probably just keep it... come up with some story!
but yeah im gonna have to agree with some of the others questioning the J part of the lastname...

Can't you get a 'quick' authentication from psa/dna? I think it was $8 a few years ago. You send them a scan of the card and then they give you an opinion through email. Check their website.

The auto just doesn't look right to me. The circle part on the J doesn't look right either. Usually he signs the J. starting from the left extension, then going right, then down, then loops at the bottom (like the M) and then up, then starts the circle on the right, then go left with the circle down, then finally, he might continue to the right extension or take his pen off and just do a line on the right.
Now, this signature on the J, looks he went from Left, right, down, then up, and then not to complete the circle but to do the right extension/line thingy, THEN the circle.
Even if the circle was complete first, it makes no sense for the right line of the J to be there if the circle is incomplete.
I would say it's a fake too.
