wow, yea im not a fan of either team but there is no way at all you can justify this as "football" hes completely defenseless standing there not looking at whats coming and he has the right to catch the football before being touched... not only is this just a dirty hit its illegal and could have turned out much worse than it actually did
theres no point in saying something like why don u go out there and take a hit like that because i know 100% you would be completely ****ed up and would probably be in a hospital bed if not dead in a situation like that
and dont try to argue that "old school football" was like this... this day and age players are faster bigger stronger, you cant compare this day and age to that

Im not saying it wasnt a cheap shot but this stuff happens all the time at all levels of the game.... time to move on... give the guy a 15 yard penalty and play football

its goign to be more than a 15 yard penalty, he will be fined and should be suspended

He LAUNCHED himself, arms down, jumping into the returner, using his helmet. Until coaches start teaching people to tackle that way, that is NOT football. Pulling the QB down 2 seconds after he throws a pass and getting called for roughing the passer is ridiculous, yes; but THIS type of action has no place in the game.

How many times have you seen a guy catch the ball and get hammered one tenth of a second after... every once in a while someone gets hit early... time to get over it.. the simple fact it is still in a discussion is somewhat ridiculous... same with someone coming over the middle... ball get tipped at the line and the receiver get pummeled without a defense and it is legal... people get hit.. its part of the game

no its expected to get hit when u actually have the ball or its being thrown to u, not when ur standing there calling for a fair catch

The simple fact that Wesley lunged at Clifton Smith with his shoulder straight into Smith's head at least a second before the ball even got there makes it a cheap shot. If Smith had caught the ball with no fair catch sign, and Wesley hit him like that, it wouldn't be that big of an issue, other than Wesley going straight for the head. But Clifton Smith couldn't even see Wesley. And if you notice, Wesley could easily tell that Smith didn't have the ball, and still took a shot at him. I don't care if "its football", I understand that, but when it comes to this kind of hit, you have to draw a line.
