    PLAYER NOTES
    (available at CBSSports.com)

--C Anze Kopitar recorded his first career hat trick, with all three goals scored in the game's first 30 minutes. With the three points, Kopitar pulled into a tie with Washington's Alexander Ovechkin for the NHL scoring lead, with 16 points. Kopitar reached the 16-point plateau in the Kings' 10th game. Last season, Kopitar didn't record his 16th point until the Kings' 20th game.

--LW Alexander Frolov returned to the lineup after being made a healthy scratch for Monday's game at Dallas. Frolov had two assists.

--C Michal Handzus scored the game-winning goal 55 seconds into overtime. The goal was Handzus' third game-winning goal of the young season and the fifth overtime goal of his career.

--RW Dustin Brown recorded his 200th career NHL point with a first-period assist, and added a second-period assist. Brown now has 24 career points against Dallas, in 33 games, the most points he has scored against any single opponent.

--D Adrian Aucoin assisted on Phoenix's first goal of the night and ended up with the game-winner in overtime when his slapper from the right side handcuffed Detroit goalie Chris Osgood and found its way to the net. In his first eight games as a Coyote, Aucoin has six points (two goals, four assists) and is a plus-5 on the ice.

--LW Petr Prucha has two goals this season and hasn't been on his skates for either one. Prucha scored his first goal from the seat of his pants in Pittsburgh on Oct. 7 and got one flat on his stomach Thursday, when he poked a puck past a distracted Detroit goalie Chris Osgood and just over the goal line to tie the game with 2:40 left in regulation.

--G Ilya Bryzgalov is now 6-1 and has won five straight starts after making 25 saves against the Red Wings. He's now 3-0 in overtime -- with all three wins coming in Phoenix's last four games. He allowed two goals, so his 1.14 goals-against average actually went up, but the Coyotes aren't complaining.

--C Matthew Lombardi scored his third goal of the season on the power play in the first period. He's now tied with Ed Jovanovski, Scottie Upshall and Radim Vrbata for the team lead in goals.

    SIDE NOTES/QUOTES
"They say put the puck on the net and good things happen. We got a lucky one. But we played a very good game and that left us in a position to benefit from a little luck -- D Adrian Aucoin, who scored the winning goal in overtime.

"We came out and played tremendous, right through the (first) two periods. And then a little bit of doubt settles in, when there's a couple soft goals, you start to pull back from the aggressive attitude that you showed in the first two periods. Clearly it affected us the rest of the way." -- Kings coach Terry Murray.

And end this GDT with a FROZEN MOMENT!!! ANZE KOPITAR WITH A HATTRICK
