Another player leaves on a stretcher
Tonite in Philly,David Booth was knocked out cold by a Mike Richards shoulder to the head....Richards was given a major plus a game misconduct...IMO,the hit was obviously vicious,not to sure if it was illegal...and no,I am not a Fler fan....Hope hes OK.

If he got the Major - there is most likely a Suspension/Fine coming....I dont think they will let anyone off on hits to the head....

I have Daivd Booth in my hockey pool but that is not what is important, hope is is well and no devastating injuries and if he is injuried a speedy and healthy recovery for him. I really could care less about my $50 at this point.

Watching that hit reminded me of the hit Scott Stevens Laid out on Lindros in the Playoffs in 2000...Both good open ice hits...but lets be honest people this sport is fast paced its not like baseball where you have time to adjust yourself and scratch...You either hit the guy there or you dont...Bang Bang Play..

While Richards' elbow to Booth was brutal, I wonder if it mainly threw Booth of balance rather than injured him. It's the way Booth's head hit the ice that makes me think he was injured. However, if he ends up with a concussion, then the elbow likely connected pretty good.
Needless to say, the NHL needs to start cracking down on the cheap shots and slewfooting (like Ovechkin's) because there have been a few dangerous plays through tonight and last.

I concur on both points the falling awkward helmet popping off. Nhl is all talk when it comes to headshots and cheapshots. Will believe it when they start truly handing out some serious punishment for the hits.

The good news is he was to stay at the hospital last night and was attentive and awake.
He was knocked out from the actuall hit you do not fall like that unless you are sleeping, drunk or knocked out.

I too have Booth in a fantasy league, and regardless of that I hope he is okay and can return to the Panthers quickly and healthy. There was absolutely no elbow involved here, it was 100% shoulder but any hit to the head should be fined and suspended. I can see Richards getting a couple games here and feel it is deserved. It is high speed plays and he likely wasn't meaning to hit the face but to drive the shoulder into his chest. Intent or not a hit to the head coupled with injury deserves some time off.
