    Superstars getting off easy????

Is it me or is the NHL just reinforcing the notion of their 2 way standard about illegal hits during games??? Ovechkin gets off with a call from League office and Mike Richards isn't getting anything??? What the he--double hockey sticks?? If that was Avery who delivered that hit, he'd be gone 25 games leading with a shoulder to the head like that. And then Ovechkin slewfoots a player and gets a call because "he doesn't have a past of cheap shots"---That's BS.....I don't think poor Daniel Briere has been the same player since he got pushed head first into the boards by Ovechkin......step up and protect the players and stop worrying about the almighty dollar before somebody gets killed.......wrong message being sent morons......

    Thumbs down

Ovechkin is reckless, I've always said that. I'm not a fan of his.

What's this talk of a "notion"?? There *IS* a double standard.

players like Avery are repeat offenders and have a history of dirty play. players like Ovechkin and Richards are not known for that type of play.

But then again theres a double standard for everybody and everything.

Lord, if this topic was titled Crosby vs Ovechkin Who's Dirtier, it would get a lot more attention. Shame

I'm not saying that I'd give Avery and Ovechkin (or Richards) the same suspension.... but either the play should be suspendable, or it shouldn't.

This should be SOOOOOOO easy for the NHL. Look at every play imaginable. What dirty things to NHLers do? Get former players, refs, coaches, whomever, involved.

Then assign a number of games to each offence. (Let's say a Slew Foot is worth 2 games). Multiply that number of games, by the amount of times the player has been suspended.

So if Avery has been suspended 5 times already.... give him 10 games for a slew foot (2 games base, x5 previous suspensions). If OV has never been suspended before.... then he only gets the 2..... but it will get worse next time.

If the player is hurt, or not, on the other end of the play.... it would have absolutly no bearing on the suspension.

I'd even let players have '1' removed from their number of infractions (the mulitpler) if they can go 164 straight Regular Season games without getting suspended.
