Bertuzzi has evolved as a person and player
For a long time, most of us wished Todd Bertuzzi would just go away.
We were tired of the Steve Moore story -- Bertuzzi's 2004 assault on the NHL grinder that ruined two careers. Frustrated the horrible spectacle apparently failed to give Bertuzzi pause, to make him grow up or at least outgrow the petulance that caused him so often to sulk and bray and bicker with former Vancouver Canuck coach Marc Crawford.
Bertuzzi was a pariah, and the NHL didn't need him anymore. Couldn't he just quit?

I don't know much about Bertuzzi, but I have seen the video of the punch several times. I don't think his intention was to injure Moore, I think it was nothing more than a guy, playing a sport, and getting caught up in it. It happens to a lot of professional athletes. We have seen that same behavior from many other players in the NHL and no one gives it a second glance. I think the circumstances that surround the Moore incident were very unfortunate, but I would be extremely surprised if Bertuzzi knew his actions would lead to such dire results.

I agree, I know he didn't have any ill-will, I'm sure he just wanted to fight the guy....which is completely acceptable in hockey.
But if a normal joe like any of us here punched someone and did that, we'd still be in the slammer and be $$$$$$ in debt forever.
Just saying he got so lucky and it was an unfair punishment in my opinion, he needs to use his brain, if he has one. I hope he does terrible for the Wings.

Let it go ...body checking is legal in hockey ,does that mean we "joes" can run around the office and toss hip checks on fellow workers we dont like..no we cant do that either.
You put on your skates in a hockey game its consented assault.....its to bad things went down as they did ,and of course Bertuzzi didnt mean that to happen ....but it did. His carrer has gone down hill he will never be the same player ,he has lost lots of $$$ over that punch, enough already.
on the other side of the coin ,if Moore had just fought when he was asked he would still be playing ,instead of trying to draw penalty in a 8-1 game. Never understood what was going through his head ,8-1 the guy is following you up and down the ice saying "lets go" and you turn your back to him ? what are you thinking..as well what was the Avs coaching staff doing putting him on the ice with no back up in an 8-1 game and everyone in the arena knowing the nucks players all wanted to kill him ...
