    PLAYER NOTES
    (available at CBSSports.com)

--C Anze Kopitar had two goals, giving him the NHL lead in goals (10) and points (21). In his last three games, Kopitar has five goals and three assists, including his first career hat trick Thursday.

--C Jarret Stoll, coming off his two-goal game Saturday night at Phoenix, had another goal Sunday. That's three goals in two games after not scoring a goal in the first 10 games of the season.

--LW Scott Parse had an assist in his second NHL game, giving him two assists in two games. Parse also seems to be having a positive impact on C Jarret Stoll; he has assisted on two of Stoll's three goals in the last two games.

--G Jonathan Quick made 25 saves in one of his strongest games of the season. Quick improved his record to 8-3 and tied Pittsburgh's Marc-Andre Fleury and Colorado's Craig Anderson for the league lead in wins.

--LW Alexander Frolov, benched for one game last week, had two goals and one assist and now has six points in his last three games (two goals, four assists).

--RW Manny Malhotra scored his first two goals as a Shark, which included the game-winner and his 200th career point.

--G Thomas Greiss made 37 saves to record his first career victory during his third NHL start.

--C Logan Couture made his NHL debut Sunday night in Philadelphia with a modest 7:01 of ice time spread over 12 shifts. He blocked one shot, put two on goal and won three of five draws.

    SIDE NOTES/QUOTES
"It's hard to put your finger on any one thing. I think our special teams are getting better. Our penalty killing, in particular, that always gives you good energy, and I've always said that that if penalty killing can lose you a game, it can also win you a game. I think that the penalty killing is really starting to dig in and get the job done. And we're scoring some goals." -- Kings coach Terry Murray, on his team's recent improvement.

"We managed our ice time much better. Instead of ending up tired in our own zone, we were fresh. I think that's the difference in the two nights." -- Coach Todd McLellan, who was more pleased with the way the Sharks went about earning their victory in Philadelphia on Sunday compared to the way they won in Atlanta on Saturday.

And end this GDT with a FROZEN MOMENT!!! ANZE KOPITAR WITH A HATTRICK

not able to watch it but will tomorrow as i'm recording it - but i'm not surprised quick gave up a softy and the kings aren't capitalizing on chances...
quick is good for one softy a game and not finishing always kills the kings. hope they win it in the shootout.
