Severity of injury big factor in OHL ruling

Ontario Hockey League commissioner David Branch felt that with 16-year-old Kitchener Rangers defenceman Ben Fanelli lying in a hospital bed there would be no second chance for the 20-year-old culprit who put him there.

Erie Otters over-age forward Michael Liambas was suspended for the remainder of the regular season as well as the playoffs on Wednesday for smashing Fanelli into the end boards in a game at Kitchener Memorial Auditorium last Friday.

i think the whole season is a bit harsh! if u watch ben Fanelli turns but it wasn't even that dirty of i hit. thats what i personally think. like the refs kicking out richards for that hit on booth like come on that was a good clean open ice hit. or look at bertuzzi sucker punched moore and ended his career he just got supended for 20 games or so like come on

thats a TERRIBLE decision the worst part is that Liambas is an overager so the effectively ends his OHL career and maybe his Professional career too. It sucks that Fanelli got hurt that badly but i think they may have hurt Liambas even more he may have had a career in the ECHL or another league like it but probably not now. Branch should be fired.
