Howdy Folks!

Frank and I will be setting up again at the Sport Card Expo on Nov 13, 14, 15th, 2009 and we hope to meet even more SCF members this time around, collect more commons to give away to the kids, and work our tails off to attract more collectors to The Toronto Card Show. We'll be in corner booth 1503 so make sure you drop by and say Hello!

Kid’s Drive - Fall Expo 2009


Thanks to many members last Expo, we were able to give out team bags of commons and base sets to the kids that come to our show. We hope that this effort is even more successful this time around. So if you have unwanted base cards, complete sets, or break boxes at the Expo and wish to unload your commons, please help our cause and drop them off at booth 1503 and please leave us both your real name and forum name.

Kudos to those of you for helping us lift off the ground our $5 Kid's Gift Certificates that we give away as door prizes for kids to spend at our show. Your cash donations will keep them in circulation.

The Toronto Card Show feels very strongly that our hobby is a family friendly event. I am sure we are not alone in the opinion that to grow our hobby, we must reach out to the kids. It is the kids who will attract the parents and parents always tell other parents about family friendly events. We do our best to make The Toronto Card Show "affordable family fun for everyone". Your participation in making this a reality is greatly appreciated.

Hockey Dream Draw

We have teamed up with a charity to raise funds for youth drug prevention programs. You can enter the NHL Alumni Hockey Dream Draw for a chance to win an NHL alumni escorted 4 city road trip for 2 for 4 NHL hockey games, 8 nights Hotel, Air and Ground transportation plus $500 spending money. We are very excited to participate in this show and we look forward to meeting each and every one of you. Together we can make this hobby stronger by attracting more kids and families to our shows and therefore the hobby and giving back to the community.

I'm sure there are a lot of people here at SCF who are members of other boards, even the one you mentioned. After all, since this is the best trading board on the net, if you're not a member here, you're missing out on a lot!

BUT, if you want to meet SCF members and learn about their generosity for donating base, be sure to mention them in your post.

More than happy to participate in this. I think it is very important to get the younger generation involved, especially in these day of 200.00 plus packs of cards that price many interested people out of the hobby.

However, I must echo the sentiments above in that I was more than a bit surprised to the see the name of another board in the first paragraph of the post. I am a member there as well, but as this is SCF perhaps a bit of attention to editing would have been appropriate?

Regardless, I wish you much success in this worthy cause.

Howdy folks. Yes I am guilty of not editing the document properly. My sincerest apollogies to all SCF members. However it is now corrected and this won't happen again.
