Most popular team/player/set collectibility wise
Hey Guys and Gal,
I'm clearing out my collection slowly but surely and concentrating on just a few sets/players. I've decided to get rid of EVERYTHING except for my Crosby's, Staals (All three brothers), OPC sets (all years) and a very select few cards #'d to 25 or less. It hit me though that some teams are utterly worthless no mater who's on the card. Teams like Phoenix, Annaheim, Nashville, Florida, etc., have so few collectors that you could almost say no one collects them. And those that do must love it, because they get ALL the cards they want for about 75-80% off of BV.
Also, there are some players that with the passage of time have shown to be uncollectible (Not a word, but I'm making it one!). Those players would be every Defenseman (Except Bobby Orr) and as weird as it sounds, a lot of Left Wingers. Finally, certain sets seem to NEVER have any after market value, but keep getting made. Sets such as Ultra, Trilogy, Black Diamond, etc. These tend to sell when they're new, but a year later no body wants anything from those sets, including the RC's.
So this begs the questions; which set/team/player would you say is the most popular collectibility wise? For me personally, I'd have to go with:
Set:
1. OPC
2. UD Ultimate/SP Authentic (Tie, due to the hard signed auto's)
3. The Cup
Team:
1. Vancouver Canucks (Hometown!)
2. Pittsburgh
3. Detroit
Players:
1. Crosby
2. Stall Brothers (Original Hometown boys!)
3. Roberto Luongo (Go Canucks!)

Well everyone is going to tout their own personal favs so this could go on forever. Hobby-wise it shakes out like this:
Sets: Cup/SPA/ITG Ultimate/ITG Superlative
Teams: Wings/Pens/Canadiens/Leafs
Players: AO/Crosby/Roy/Gretz/Orr

You guys really think AO is more popular hobby wise than Sid The Kid? And more people Hobby wise are into ITG Ultimate/ITG Superlative than even the regular UD set?

Dude, don't take me out of context. I just listed them in general, not in any particular order, hence the lack of numbering 1, 2, 3, etc.
And yes, PLENTY of people buy ITG Ultimate and ITG products in general, don't kid yourself.
There is a immense market out there for ITG cards, mainly because they use all legitimate game used memorabilia that is player specific.
Their memorabilia is unparalleld and the fact they do it with both hands tied behind their back and their junk stuffed in their throat makes it HIGHLY impressive in my mind.
