I too have noticed hobby boxes at Wal-Mart. Quite possibly some suppliers shopped them to a major retailers to reduce their inventory, because hobby outlets have curtailed to only bring in current production.
Searching for: Jagr, Palffy, Stumpel, and Boyd

In the USA, I have noticed Target has a Rookies & Stars NFL special box for $39.99 available only at Target (it looks like a hobby box with a Target sticker on the wrapper) and Walmart has some older hobby boxes of basketball, maybe baseball (I only collect hockey, so I didn't look *too* hard).

Walmart Canada has older hobby boxes of hockey cards, many mention above -- 06-07 Flair Showcase, 1997-98 Collector's Choice and ITG Action (2002?) are what I have seen locally.
