Philadelphia -- Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Ray Emery did what he had to do stopping 22 shots en route to a 5-1 win over his former NHL team the Ottawa Senators. The Flyers know what they have in Emery and now the Senators know what they lost.
Flyers forward Blair Betts knocked in the first goal of the night (and as a member of the Flyers) when Chris Kelly, the Sens best penalty killer, was in the box. Betts banked the shot in off Ottawa goalie Pascal Leclaire’s skate to make it a 1-0 game at 9:34 of the first period. Claude Giroux and Chris Pronger got the helpers.

Am I the only one who feels that being a successful professional athlete is NO excuse for being a poor human being?
I will never cheer for this bum.

Bravo, and I completely agree; Emery is a waste as a person and will show his true colours as a professional when he gets lazy and soft and goes back to being inconsistent. He is great now but it won't last, it didn't in Ottawa and it won't in Philly, and I'll enjoy every minute of his floundering.

Those are hard standard for any athlete to man or woman up too. You can dig into the past of almost every athlete. (A big majority) have made some kind of mistake that could be construed a being less than a successful professional athlete (bum). None of us is perfect and he did not do well with his time in Ottawa there is no doubt but many athletes have issues they could have handled better. Yet, I see many still cheer for some of the what would be called the greatest athletes in the hockey world.
